Description
This is one of only two items that Magic Wagon produced in 2023 and it is their third attempt at tackling Peter Warlock’s amazing glass penetration. The versions created by Magic Wagon so far are:
- Mod Quad Penetration – 2008
- Atomic Glass Penetration – 2020
- Mystic Window Penetration – 2023
(and this does not include all types of glass penetration they have created).
This version uses a slightly different method from the original and when you view the effect you notice these differences:
- the relative width of the overall frame has been reduced.
- four small squares of glass are used instead of one larger glass pane.
If you know how the original works this version might well fool you. It is also certainly a little cleaner and simpler to perform. However, by reducing the glass into smaller pieces to my mind it does not seem quite as impossible – it is much harder to “do something tricky” with a large piece of solid glass. But if you love the sort of well made compact close-up magic that Magic Wagon is famous for you will surely love this version.
Madison performs a very long video that would probably only appeal to Magic Wagon fans but I think he does a great job demonstrating how impossible the penetration is. Of the two videos online none of them are less than 5 minutes and Madison’s epic challenge video rolls in at over 12 minutes! Where is a decent Speed Demo when you need one 🙂
Regardless of the video situation, this is a very clever piece of magic and beautiful executed by Magic Wagon.
Effect: The performer displays a beautiful wooden window frame, four sheets of glass along with four brass rods. The glass sheets are then openly inserted through the slots on the side of the frame and tapped with one of the brass rods to prove that they are perfectly solid, and they truly are. The front cover with four holes is then placed on the frame. Now and without any hesitation, the performer immediately pushes the four brass rods right through the frame, apparently penetrating the four solid sheets of glass! An impossible demonstration of solid through solid! After the penetration, the brass rods are then removed along with the front cover, showing the four sheets of glass to be completely unharmed and still perfectly solid!
What distinguishes this from other similar effects we have previously released is that the glass sheets can be immediately removed at the end of the performance. Also, since the four holes on the wooden frame represent the center of each window pane; there is no explanation as to how the four brass rods could have gone through the frame and glass at the same time! It truly looks impossible.
The intricate detailed woodwork on this item is truly outstanding and it takes approximately 4-5 days from start to finish of manufacturing to complete one of these exquisite pieces.
The wooden frame measures approximately 15.6 cms high, 12.6 cms wide and 6 cms deep at the base and has been completely handcrafted from natural aged teak wood with a lightly distressed oil finish.
Special thanks to Mr. Tony Curtis for coming up with the name for this effect.
