Description

Stan Cabell (sometimes misspelled Cabel) was a part-time wood worker and full time minister living in North Carolina. He manufactured good quality, primarily standard wooden items (such as Die Boxes, Nest of Boxes, Mental Epics, Lippincott Boxes, and magic side tables) and sold his items through regional conventions and dealers like Al Cohen.

This is a nice set of nested boxes using a straight forward method (similar to a simplified Jack Hughes method). As supplied to me these were really missing a key component to make them performable which is a locking Lippincott Box for the final reveal. Without one, you’ll struggle a little as you’ll probably have the vanished object (such as a ring) just flopping around in the smallest box which is still 4″ square. But by adding a nice Lippincott Box everything changes and you can even have the spectator unlock and remove the ring themselves. This makes the rest of the nested boxes seem much more impossible.

If you want to perform the nest of boxes, this is a good sized set of boxes to use. Not as pretty or well made as Viking’s, and the loading needs to be done out of sight, but these work reliably and are fast. The method is very simple and set-up is fast. These also stack well and look good as you are discovering the borrowed item.

Includes:

(Notice: the ring and blue ring box used in the video are NOT included.)

Effect: A ring (or coin) is borrowed and vanished (by your favorite method, but this is one of the best and the easiest), then it reappears inside the innermost of four boxes!

A large black box is introduced and opened. Inside is a yellow box which is removed and placed on top of the black box. Then this box is opened and inside is a red box which is removed and placed on top of the yellow box. This box is opened and a small silver box is shown inside locked with a padlock. They are then given the key and asked to unlock it. Inside the borrowed ring or marked coin is found.
