Description

The Memoirs of Kenneth Fuller Klosterman

Ken privately published this book for his circle of friends and sent it to them as a memento of his appreciation for their friendship. This was not offered for sale and copies will likely only become available as the recipients of this book pass it on at their death. The book also contains a book test devised and described by Richard Osterlind.

Here are excerpts from the Foreword by Gabe Fajuri:

Yes, this book describes his fantastic magic collection, buried in a mine shaft eighty three and one half feet underground. Yes, this book tells the story of building a family bakery into a regional powerhouse, using a bit of trickery along the way (try painting delivery trucks blue on one side and red on the other, to give the impression of two trucks where there was only one). Yes, the book tells the story of military academies, benevolent fathers and uncles, patient wives and children, thoroughbred horses, grist mills, and mansions. But the theme that runs through it is perhaps more about how these amazing things happened, and what it took to get Ken there, than it is about the incidents themselves. Anecdotes and stories happen all on their own, and this book is filled with them.

But it’s what you do in the time surrounding those moments, and who you spend your time with that is just as important – maybe even more important – than the memorable dots on the path of your life.

Here is the truth only (well, mostly): a book made up of equal parts family history, magic trick instruction manual, boardroom bible, docent’s guidebook, preservationist’s credo, salesman’s marching orders, and hard-won common-sense.
